About us

The diving point at Ist is run by professional diver Luka Bekić, NAUI diving instructor. He developed his love for diving in Rovinj as a child, and has been professionally engaged in underwater archeology for more than twenty years. He participated in many underwater researches in Croatia and abroad and is the author of numerous books and articles on underwater cultural heritage.

At the same time, he participates in various underwater eco-actions and other socially beneficial projects related to the sea and the island. He speaks English, German and Russian fluently, and it is also possible to communicate in Italian and French.

The mission of Zmorac is to provide an opportunity for already trained divers to explore the underwater world of Ist, and to train new divers so that they can enjoy the underwater world. All this in a pleasant, peaceful and safe environment, with the inevitable island charm.

Zmorac is a weak summer daytime wind that blows from the sea to the land in the coastal air circulation system. It occurs when the lowest layer of air over the sea is colder than the air over the land. On the eastern coast of the Adriatic, it appears mainly in undisturbed weather conditions, where the islands do not interfere with its development (Source: Croatian encyclopedia).
